Project “SIGMA Z” is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021–2026 and is financed by European Union funds through the NextGenerationEU instrument.
About the project
The project Financial Security and Sustainability of Generation Z: Challenges and Perspectives for Pensions and Long-Term Care (acronym: SIGMA Z) aims to analyse and improve the financial behaviour of young people in the Republic of Croatia with an emphasis on preparing for long-term financial challenges. In the context of demographic changes, market uncertainty, increasing expectations of individual responsibility and reduced capacities of social systems, the project addresses the need to increase financial literacy and long-term economic sustainability of Generation Z. The goals of the project are to investigate the level of objective and subjective financial literacy of young people, analyse the role of financial institutions and the capital market, examine the influence of psychological and behavioural factors on financial decision-making, and develop and test innovative digital tools for financial literacy through a combination of survey research, interviews and advanced quantitative analysis. Special attention will be paid to the development of digital educational content, the implementation of a pilot programme for librarian education, and the development of a lifelong education programme. The project also includes the creation of recommendations for policymakers to shape more effective strategies for the financial empowerment of young people. The project will significantly contribute to the scientific and professional recognition of the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb and the building of institutional capacities for future research and educational initiatives. In the long term, the project has the potential to improve the financial resilience of young people and the sustainability of social systems in Croatia and to offer applicable models of education and intervention relevant at the international level.
